“ Frühschoppen Spezial ” on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Radio NÖ
St. Pölten (OTS) – The “Radio NÖ Brass Music Contest” was a three-week search for the most popular brass band in Lower Austria. With 75,033 votes, the musicians of the Langau band near Geras secured victory. The prize – a two-day, professional sound recording in Lower Austria radio quality. In the first week, the Engabrunn music club was at the top, and first place in the second week went to the Traismauer music club. On June 13th, all three bands came to a twilight drink in the marquee at the ORF NÖ radio station in St. Pölten.
ORF Lower Austria regional director Alexander Hofer: “There is definitely no shortage of young musicians in Lower Austria. The 26 brass bands that took part in our competition alone impressively demonstrated what their musicians are capable of. The local music clubs connect generations and are an important part of social life in Lower Austria’s communities. Our twilight pint on June 13th with all three weekly winners was a nice conclusion to the campaign on Radio Niederösterreich.”
Partners of the “Radio NÖ Brass Music Contest” are Volksbank and EVN.
Volksbank Gen. Dir. KR Dr. Rainer Kuhnle: “As the new banking partner of the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association, it was very clear to us that we would also be a partner in the Radio NÖ brass music contest. Volksbank Niederösterreich is THE regional bank with cooperative roots that not only carries this idea within itself, but also actively lives and implements it in the form of funding for regional, cultural associations where people and togetherness are the focus.”
Volksbank had ski jumping legend Andreas Goldberger there as a special guest. In music, as in sport, there are some parallels for him when it comes to practicing and competitions: “I grew up with brass band and marching music, that’s part of the country. But I was always just a listener, never actively involved.” The musicians have his full respect, as he says, “It’s sensational what they achieve.”
EVN – also a partner in the campaign: “Brass music is a lively part of the Lower Austrian cultural landscape and connects people across generations. EVN is happy to support activities in Lower Austria that strengthen the sense of community and bring joy.”
