Green MP Georg Ecker criticizes the coalition’s lack of willingness to work in Lower Austria
Black-blue refuses to cooperate and stops work in the committees
George Ecker
St. Pölten (OTS) – “We submitted a motion to the Europe Committee months ago that expressed a clear rejection of the Mercorsur agreement. “Black and blue obviously stands for the agreement that endangers our local agriculture as well as nature and the climate, because time and again the application is either postponed or passed on to subcommittees,” says LAbg. Georg Ecker, European spokesman for the Lower Austrian Greens.
The negative highlight was the black-blue coalition’s rejection of an expert discussion in the European Committee that Ecker wanted to organize. “NEOS, SPÖ and the Greens named experts, then black and blue simply voted down the group of experts. Black-blue refuses to cooperate and stops work in the committees
“, says Ecker. Because it is the most natural thing in the world that not only the MPs themselves, but also experts should be able to express their views in sub-committees. “This will significantly increase the quality of the discussion and enhance it with relevant facts. Obviously, the black-blue state government’s quality and performance standards have now reached zero,” says Ecker. In any case, he will put the proposal back on the agenda in the next European Committee “My expectation is that the flight from the discussion about Mercosur in the Lower Austrian state parliament will now come to an end and that our motion will make its way to the plenary session so that we can at least discuss the important topic of “fair trade” publicly there,” says Ecker .
