What started with the desire for a few meat hills for biking for children will become a milestone for cycling in Carinthia in 2025: In Obermillstatt, a modern bike area was created by five committed families, the municipality of Millstatt and the local tourism association. Trail variety at 1,250 meters-from family outing to airbag action
The new system offers everything mountain bikers: search inside. In the skill center with twelve short trails, the range of child -friendly entry -level lines ranges to red jumplines for jumping technology to black lines for experienced rider. The area is deliberately aimed at a wide audience. “Regardless of whether it is a beginner or expert, everyone will have fun driving here,” said municipal council and co -initiator Peter Pacher. A special highlight is the “Krampusline”, a uncompromising downhill trail for full professionals. “For bikers, the Krampusline is what a via ferrata is for hikers – a demanding experience that you have to work out,” explains Stefan Müller. The further offer includes two drops, an uphill trail and a dirt park with a 9×12 meter airbag from Bagjump, the first of its kind in Carinthia.
Imagined by families, made with lots of hands
The bike area is much more than just a new system for mountain bikers – it is a heart project. Together it was planned, tinkered and shoveled together for a long time. Around 200 truck loads of earth and many volunteers later it is clear: something was created in Obermillstatt that goes far beyond a classic sports facility. Association, youngsters, community
A local construction company was responsible for the construction of the trails and the dirt park, the boss of which is an enthusiastic mountain biker. The newly founded mountain bike association Pedal Monkeys, which currently has 50 members, takes care of maintenance. Pentecost 2025: Three Days of Festival, Sport and Community at the Bike Festival Obermillstatt
The facility will be officially opened at the three-day Bike Festival Obermillstatt at 10:00 a.m. with show rides, technology training, guided tours, airbag sessions, tombola and DJ & aftershow party.
