Vienna (OTS) – Halls with the latest technology, new hall designs, premium seating categories and an innovative culinary concept – all this and more awaits cinema fans in the new Cineplexx Westfield SCS. The official opening took place on Wednesday, December 20th and attracted numerous guests from politics, media and business to the Westfield Shopping City Süd in Wiener Neudorf with many program highlights such as the Austrian premiere of “Aquaman: Lost Kingdom”.
Since Easter 2023, Cineplexx and Westfield Shopping City Süd have been working on the repositioning of the Westfield SCS Multiplex destination. Around 25 million euros were invested in this prestigious project by Westfield Shopping City Süd, Cineplexx and other partners. After eight months of renovation work, the wait was over yesterday and the Cineplexx Westfield SCS in the Westfield Shopping City South was officially opened. Around 900 guests accepted the invitation and were impressed by the new cinema concept. In addition to representatives of the Cineplexx and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield management, the guests also included Herbert Janschka, mayor of Wiener Neudorf – after the official ceremony including speeches, the ribbon was symbolically cut and the cinema was opened. “I would like to warmly congratulate Cineplexx and Westfield Shopping City Süd on this successful project. The new Cineplexx Westfield SCS is much more than a cinema as we know it so far. We can proudly claim that we have gained an exceptional range of leisure activities at this important location

Opening program full of cinematic highlights
It wasn’t just presenter Sasa Schwarzjirg who created a party atmosphere, violinist Celine Roscheck also enchanted with musical sounds, while the multi-award-winning l’autentico served up Italian delights. In addition to a live tour of the 6,000 square meter area, the latest technology was also demonstrated live. The Austrian premiere of “Aquaman: Lost Kingdom” took place in the spectacular IMAX® hall. Three special screenings of “Raus aus dem Teich”, “Hades” and “Girl You Know It’s True” also thrilled the guests, spanning the spectrum from Hollywood blockbusters to family films to German and Austrian productions.

The new world of cinema: IMAX, suites and seat service
From now on, all cinephiles can experience the new world of cinema up close and look forward to eleven screens instead of the previous nine. The highlights include the IMAX® hall with the latest generation of cinema technology and the UNIQUE hall, which will amaze visitors with its innovative spatial concept and Dolby Atmos sound. The four premium rooms, the so-called “suites”, are also unique. They redefine the premium experience and pamper cinema guests with the Cinegold Boxx seating category – designed as a single or double berth, it ensures more comfort, space and privacy. A special highlight is the cinema seating service from “ROSSO by l’autentico”, which is exclusive in Austria. “Through our cooperation with l’autentico, we offer a top-class restaurant experience that is combined with the incomparable entertainment of a trip to the cinema

Opening Herbst 2024 – Elite Experience
In addition to the cinema, the heart of the new Westfield SCS multiplex will be the new entertainment area. A leisure and entertainment area will be built on an area of more than 5,000 square meters by autumn 2024 – operated by Elite Experience, and will include a high-end bowling area with twelve lanes and a 20 meter long LED wall as well as crazy mini golf ( for the first time in Austria!) and escape rooms with live actors and arcade machines. The leisure center is rounded off by changing live acts, DJs, comedians and much more and not only delights families, teenagers and young adults, but also offers a wide range of activities for birthday parties and company events.
Cinema tickets for the first performances in the new Cineplexx Westfield SCS are now available online at cineplexx.at as well as in the Cineplexx app or directly on site at the ticket kiosk and at the cinema box office.
