Invitation to the presentation in the presence of the artist on May 21, 2024 at the Türkenschanze campus
Vienna (OTS) – On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 5:00 p.m., the artistic intervention WALK OF INSECTS, which Edgar Honetschläger designed for the Türkenschanze campus of BOKU University, will be presented. The Federal Real Estate Company, BOKU University and the artist cordially invite media representatives to the presentation.

For the WALK OF INSECTS, Edgar Honetschläger, together with the entomologist Dominique Zimmermann and in coordination with representatives from BOKU University, developed an artistic “insect manifesto” that consists of thirteen demands to protect these important creatures. The manifesto is part of a permanent work on the forecourt of the library building. As an integral part of the project, a property in a rural area of Lower Austria was purchased and transformed into a “Non Human Zone”. In this human-free zone, habitat should be returned to insects and birds and protected in the long term.
The project emerged from a BIG ART competition.
BIG ART is the art initiative of the Federal Real Estate Company.
The event takes place as part of the Climate Biennale Vienna.
