Today, the Tyrolean FPÖ National Council member and traffic committee member Christofer Ranzmaier reacted to the German slow down of the north toilet on the Brennerbasist tunnel: “With its behavior, Germany is not only the brake of European rail transport, but also to the contract breaker.
For Ranzmaier it is clear: the billion dollar expenditure for the burner base tunnel threatens to tip the German boycott into absurd. “Without access lines, the burner base tunnel is the most expensive bad planning in Europe – or immediately to the largest tunnel tree museum in the world. Anyone who willingly gutted a project of this size, play out any credibility both when it comes to relocating heavy traffic on the rails and in relation to European cooperation.” The Freedom Members therefore called for an immediate intervention by the Austrian Federal Government, as well as a clear signal by the EU Commission that such a broken contract cannot remain without consequences. “SPÖ Transport Minister Hanke is now urgently challenged to hit the table-in Berlin and in Brussels.”
Ranzmaier also warned of political diversion maneuvers that are supposed to put Tyrol under pressure: “As long as Berlin consistently refuses to fulfill its part, the idea of a debate about loosening in transit restrictions is already completely absurd. Tyrol is not right. Lighthouse project, but only a billion -dollar memorial missed opportunities and political irresponsibility, ”said Ranzmaier.
