Berger on the large-scale operation in favorites: weapon ban zone on Reumannplatz is pure placebo policy

“Today, despite the existing weapon ban zone on the Reumannplatz, there was a stabbing again. It is precisely what the FPÖ has said since the introduction of this measure: these prohibition zones are nothing more than pure symbolic policy and have no deterrent effect on violent perpetrators. Today’s act impressively shows that there is no shortage of laws or prohibition signs, but of consistent executive presence and a rigorous security policy. “A criminal is just as much impressed by a prohibition sign as a drug dealer from a non-smoking sign in the park,” says Berger.

The FPÖ-Wien therefore demands an immediate end of the ineffective placebo measures and instead a clear security policy offensive. “We finally need more visible police on the streets, focus controls and the consistent deportation of foreign criminals and not the naive adherence to a policy of illusions,” emphasizes Berger.

“The prohibition of weapons on Reumannplatz failed. The Viennese have to be honestly protected and not calmed down by symbol policy or signs,” concludes Berger.
