“Enjoy culture – help children!” This is the motto under which the “Research Society for Cerebral Tumors” in Vienna is organizing a benefit musical to benefit children’s brain tumor research. Ao Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Polaschek, Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research, will address the audience with welcoming words and then be transported to London in the 1930s by the actors from the Kettenheimer Hof in Baden-Württemberg with the musical “Me and my Girl”.
Musical production “Me and my Girl”
60 music-loving teenagers and young adults from Baden-Württemberg have staged a musical on their own, under the direction of Moritz Pfister. The aim of the project is to offer young people the opportunity to be creative and design a large music project themselves. As part of the European tour in summer 2024, the musical will be performed in Vienna as a charity event for children’s brain tumor research. Prof. Dr. Stefan Pfister, chairman of the “Kettenheimer Hof eV” association, works full-time in research on childhood brain tumors at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. The proceeds from this event will go to the “Research Society for Cerebral Tumors” in Vienna to ensure the further development of diagnostic and treatment options for children and adolescents with brain tumors.
The “Research Society for Cerebral Tumors”
Brain tumors are the most common solid tumors in children and adolescents and represent 25% of all malignant diseases in this age group. The “Research Society for Cerebral Tumors” is a non-profit organization that has been driving forward pediatric brain tumor research in Vienna for years.
