On February 14th from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, couples will be in front of Gustav Klimt’s famous painting The kiss photographed free of charge and professionally in the Upper Belvedere. In the spirit of the most beautiful declaration of love in art history, the campaign takes place on Valentine’s Day.
The couple appears deeply embraced, self-forgetful and immersed in their embrace The kiss (lovers). With this work, the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt created a universally valid allegorical statement about love as a central theme of human existence in 1908/09 at the height of his “Golden Period”. Today is The kiss by Gustav Klimt one of the most famous works of art in the world and the centerpiece of the Belvedere collection.
Under the motto “COME FOR A KISS”, for the second year in a row, the Upper Belvedere is opening the Klimt wing outside of regular opening hours on Valentine’s Day for lovers, romantics and art fans who kiss in front of Gustav Klimt’s original masterpiece would like to have photographed. Professional photographers from Ivory Rose Photography capture every single kiss, creating a lasting impression that will remember the romance of this special day for years to come.
In addition to the unique opportunity to be photographed in front of the Gustav Klimt original, visitors receive their photo in print quality and can then stroll through the Klimt wing and enjoy art for free. In the Marble Hall of the Upper Belvedere you can toast to love with a glass of sparkling wine. A pop-up shop invites you to browse and buy exclusive products related to the masterpiece.
