Belgian royal family – Prince Laurent of Belgium: The parasite

There used to be more pomp? Prince Laurent wants to see money.

Not everything used to be better. But at least: the overrated royal children had to tremble at least every now and then if they had driven it too colorful. Today, these more than brazen unemployed hardly have anything to fear, especially not the anger of the people.

Prince Laurent of Belgium, the brother of King Philippe, had to take at least a legal defeat. He had wanted to sue admission to the state social security, which was now rejected by a court. After his benefits had been reduced by 15 percent a few years ago at the expense of taxpayers, he received the ridiculous sum of 388,000 euros last year to maintain his modest lifestyle. That should not be too easy for him, even if he can of course stay with a rent -free one.

The blue -flowered refuse to work could not pursue normal employment, he said. His biography seems to him right. Born in 1962, he was trained at the royal military school and has been an internship here and once since then. In any case, he did not appear through action, rather by uninhibited frenzy by car, good contacts to dubious potentates, a process for embezzling funds and Holocaust deployment.

Prince Laurent Benoît Baudouin Marie von Belgium, his full name, is often dubbed in the press as the “black sheep” of the royal family. What a misunderstanding! All monarchs and their clans are the black sheep of the whole society. Laurent is no exception, but he stands exemplary for the principle of royal life, which is only possible at the expense of the general public.

The “nd” remains. Thanks to them.

The Nd. cooperative belongs to our readers and authors. With the cooperative, we guarantee the independence of our editorial team and try to make all of our texts accessible – even if you have no money to get our work with you.

We have no hard paywall on the website out of conviction. But that also means that we all who can make a contribution must always ask for financing our journalism from the left. That costs nerves, and not just our reader, our author also becomes too much from time to time.

Nevertheless: Only together can we defend left -wing points of view!

With your support we can still:

→ offer independent and critical reporting.
→ cover topics that are overlooked elsewhere.
→ create a platform for diverse and marginalized voices.
→ Write to false information and hate speech.
→ Accompany and deepen social debates from the left.

Be part of the solidarity financing and support the “ND” with a contribution of your choice. Together we can create a media landscape that is independent, critical and accessible to everyone.
