Barbara Thaler calls for complete implementation of tax-free employee bonuses in collective agreements

Without wage-setting regulations, no payout will be possible in 2024 – bonus regulations are currently only implemented in a fraction of collective agreements – union blocked

Innsbruck (OTS) Tyrol’s business association leader Barbara Thaler is urgently appealing to union representatives to initiate a change of course in discussions about the implementation of the tax-free employee bonus. “As of this year, the employee bonus of up to 3,000 euros per employee can only be paid out by the employer if it is fully determined based on a wage-setting regulation – usually based on a collective agreement. Unfortunately, this is currently only the case in a handful of collective agreements. With their blocking stance, the employee representatives are preventing the tax-free employee bonus in numerous collective agreements to the detriment of the employees,” explains Thaler.

“The employee side often links possible approval with new demands and thereby blocks the most comprehensive solution possible for all workers,” criticizes Thaler and is surprised by the negative attitude. “The employee bonus is an effective and unbureaucratic instrument that fully benefits the employees. “Especially in these financially tense times, it is very irritating that the union is so persistently opposed to this mutually attractive solution,” said Thaler and called on the collective bargaining partners to make the employee bonus possible within the framework of simple additional agreements.
