In the ORF night talk “Stöckl” on February 29th at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 2
Vienna (OTS) – In the current edition of the ORF night talk “Stöckl” on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 11:05 p.m. on ORF 2, “ZIB 2” presenter Armin Wolf and political scientist Peter Filzmaier will be guests of Barbara Stöckl:
Journalist Armin Wolf and political scientist Peter Filzmaier have known each other for almost three decades. They were once students and professors, today they meet each other regularly in the “ZIB 2” studio and are on Austrian stages as “The Professor and the Wolf” – based on their political explanation podcast and book of the same name. In the ORF Nighttalk, the two talk about the upcoming election year, but also about the effects of “social” media on journalism, which is increasingly flooded by disinformation and fake news. The online presence of “Zeit im Bild”, for example, which aims to provide a young audience with serious information on social media, counters this. According to Armin Wolf, this is “highly relevant” in times of fake news. His most famous interview is the one with Russian ruler Putin that he conducted with him in 2018. In an interview with Barbara Stöckl, he tells us whether he would interview Putin again today – after the war of aggression on Ukraine that has now lasted two years.
However, the native of Innsbruck has very little to do with sports – even though he grew up as a child in the Olympic Village in Innsbruck. “Olympia”, on the other hand, calls on the self-confessed sports fan and former marathon runner Peter Filzmaier, who in his current book – against the backdrop of the upcoming Summer Games in France – deals with the phenomenon of the Olympic Games as a “stage for sport and politics”. . Filzmaier is convinced that “one would no longer be able to keep up with excluding the participating countries” if only countries without conflicts were allowed to take part in the games. The eloquent political expert at “Stöckl” explains how political sport actually is.
