Jury (director Baran bo Odar, actress Leonie Benesch and producer Sol Bondy):

“We would like to thank Julia Weigl and Christoph Gröner for their tireless efforts in bringing this great prize back to life. Thank you to the Free State of Bavaria and the FFF, because with this prize you recognize and support the work of the many German producers, that tell stories far from home and thus find an audience all over the world. In this competition we saw 10 wonderful, diverse films that represent the entire spectrum of international cinema.

And of these ten films, two particularly impressed us. Since we thought both films were great, but only one can win, it was important to us to honor one of them with a special mention. The special mention goes to: THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE. The film provides a sensitive insight into the life of a Somali patchwork family. With calm, haunting performances, this film touched and enlightened us in equal measure.

The CineCoPro Award goes to a film that has deeply moved and captivated us. He is a portrait of young, stranded men who, in their desperation, have to cross all boundaries in order to maintain their dream, their prospect of a safe life in Europe. We are taken into a world that is at once tender and cruel, relentlessly raw and heartbreakingly human – where characters can’t help but do the wrong thing. We were blown away by the precision and warmth of the game, the clearly told and captivating story and the outstanding artistic achievements of all departments. We are very pleased to present the CineCoPro Award to the producers of TO A LAND UNKNOWN to hand over. Congratulations!”

ONE-FUTURE-PREIS

Petra Kelly – Act now!

By Doris Metz

Deutschland 2024

RBB/BR/ARTE, iconoclasm film production

Jury (Interfilm Academy):

“With analytical and ethical expertise, the German director Doris Metz succeeds in creating a passionate documentary film about Petra Kelly, her life, her intense political work and her tragic fate from extensive archive material. It becomes clear how Petra Kelly has become a symbolic figure of German environmentalism. and peace movement in the 80s, a charismatic politician and visionary (1947-1992), who did not describe herself as a politician, but as a political person. Growing up in the 60s, she fought just as passionately as a student in Robert Kennedy’s campaign team She, back in Germany, at all political levels as an active member of citizens’ initiatives, as a co-founder of the Green Party, as a member of the Bundestag in Bonn, in peace demonstrations against the nuclear threat, as the winner of the alternative Nobel Prize in 1982. Doris Metz specifically allows contemporary witnesses to have their say comes and shows Petra Kelly as a global activist and fighter for human rights, justice, equality and non-violence and for the ecological movement. The filmic portrait of this strong-willed and passionate personality who wanted change shakes us up to civil disobedience and at the same time shamefully shows us as viewers what we as fellow human beings have missed and repressed out of convenience over the last few decades. The film should be shown and discussed everywhere in cinemas, schools, academies, churches, etc., because it manifests the topicality and modernity in the thinking of this great woman who rejected “politics as a business”, which is still rampant everywhere today. This film is a call and at the same time a program for a common, better future, also in the spirit of her last book “Thinking with the Heart – Texts for a Credible Future.”
