Erich Cibulka, President ÖOG
Vienna (OTS) – On April 3, 2024, the German Federal Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, awarded the President of the Austrian Officers’ Society (ÖOG), Brigadier Erich Cibulka, the Cross of Honor in Gold for special services to the Bundeswehr.
The high award was ceremoniously presented by Colonel iG Jörg Rütten, Germany’s defense attaché, in a ceremony on June 28, 2024 as part of a board meeting of the Austrian Officers’ Society (ÖOG) and Cibulka’s services to German-Austrian cooperation were acknowledged in a laudatory speech.
In his acceptance remarks, President Cibulka emphasized the need for international cooperation and understanding. He concluded his short speech with the conclusion: People who know each other well don’t shoot at each other. This must be a European lesson from history.
