EU monument as a sign of solidarity
The tree circle in Sigmund Freud Park in front of the Votivkirche was built by the European Union on March 25, 1997 to mark the 40th anniversary of its founding. 15 trees were planted for the then member states. In the middle of the tree circle, an artistically designed installation, the PaN table (“Partner of All Nations”), was erected on the occasion of the expansion of the European Union in 2004. It is a granite table with ten chairs dedicated to the newly joined EU members. The installation stands for lived dialogue, friendship and international understanding.
