Online media discussion on the new CARE report “Breaking the Silence” on Thursday, January 11th, at 10 a.m. via ZOOM
Vienna (OTS) – The world is confronted with more and longer lasting conflicts and wars. Natural disasters, the consequences of climate change and the global food crisis are also contributing to the fact that the need for humanitarian aid in 2023 has never been greater. This is also reflected in international reporting: the destructive earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, the war in Ukraine and the Middle East dominate the headlines. At the same time, there was a lack of media attention to the suffering of tens of millions of people – this is shown by an analysis of more than five million online articles. CARE presents the ten humanitarian crises that were least reported on in 2023 in the report “Breaking the Silence”.
As part of a Online press conference CARE presents the results of the report and discusses the following questions: Why are many humanitarian crises and conflicts invisible to the world public? What is happening in these countries? And what efforts are needed to ensure that the plight of millions of people receives more attention?
