For the first time, a visual presentation from WIFO makes it clear how much care and support in Austria depends on where you live. This patchwork is not only unfair and inefficient, but also absolutely inadequate in view of the massive challenges in this area. By 2050, more than twice as many people will need care and support as today.
We therefore appeal to a new federal government to take on this responsibility and to place care and support at the center of the future government program. We need a comprehensive system reform – towards the people, away from the residential lottery.
On September 20, 2024, Caritas will present the Fleckerl Carpet findings at a press conference together with WIFO and present concrete demands for a sustainable, fair system reform of our care and support.
Your conversation partners are:
- Dr. Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger, economist with a focus on labor market economics, income and social security / Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO)
- Nora Tödtling-Musenbichler, President of Caritas Austria
- Klaus Schwertner, Director of Caritas Vienna
- Irena Udric, house and nursing service manager at St. Magdalena House, Caritas Vienna
Media representatives are warmly invited to the press conference. Image and video recordings in the St. Magdalena retirement and nursing home are possible upon consultation.
