One of Austria’s largest circular economy projects will start on January 1, 2025: the introduction of disposable deposits on plastic and metal beverage packaging. The start of the deposit system not only enables the circular economy, but also creates an effective remedy against littering, the careless throwing away of beverage packaging in nature.
The goal is to take back around 2.2 billion bottles and cans annually and to achieve a return rate of 90 percent by 2027. Consumers play a central role here. Only if the bottles and cans are returned can the valuable raw materials be returned to the cycle.
In order to inform consumers across the board about the new deposit system, its regulations, processes and goals, a wide-reaching information campaign will start at the same time as the introduction of the deposit system.
As part of one press conferenceam Tuesday, December 10, 2024 one 10:00 a.m The national information campaign will be presented and an update will be given on the current status of the one-way deposit system in Austria, to which we hereby cordially invite you.
