AVISO: Doubly sustainable for E-Waste Day: Socio-economic companies in the circular economy using the example of the DRZ
Vienna (OTS) –

The “International E-Waste Day” will take place for the seventh time on October 14, 2024. The global day of action calls for responsible handling of electronic waste. For over 20 years, an average of 1,400 tons of old electrical devices have been processed annually in the dismantling and recycling center (DRZ) of the Vienna adult education centers. As a socio-economic company, the DRZ, which is supported by the AMS Vienna, gives around 200 long-term unemployed people new perspectives every year and therefore has a doubly sustainable effect: for people and the environment.

Winfried Göschl, State Managing Director AMS, Rainer Kronberger, Head of Waste Management MA 48, and Herbert Schweiger, VHS Managing Director, will discuss the importance of socio-economic companies for the circular economy as part of a technical discussion on October 7, 2024, using the DRZ as an example. In an introductory keynote, Elisabeth Smith, DRZ’s waste management manager, addresses the topic of “Doubly sustainable – the dismantling and recycling center”.

Media representatives are cordially invited to an expert discussion and a tour of the DRZ. Please register at presse@vhs.at.
