Exchange on the topic of education on Monday, July 1, 2024
Vienna (PK) – For the third time, the “Dialogue Platform for Autochthonous Ethnic Groups in Parliament” offers the area spokespersons and the chairmen of the ethnic group advisory councils in the Federal Chancellery the opportunity to exchange ideas on topics relevant to the ethnic groups. The aim is to further promote and strengthen the connecting dialogue. At the meeting on Monday, July 1st in Parliament, the focus will again be on the topic of education.
After the opening words by National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka and greetings by Parliament Director Harald Dossi, Brigitta Busch (Professor of Applied Linguistics, University of Vienna and University of Stellenbosch) will speak introductory words as moderator of the event.
Afterwards there are two lectures on the program. Nadja Kramer (ARGE of private bilingual and multilingual kindergartens) and Bernard Sadovnik (Mayor of the municipality of Globasnitz/Globasnica & Chairman of the Community of Carinthian Slovenes) provide information about “Bilingual and multilingual care in the elementary education sector using the example of Carinthia”. The chairman of the “Komensky” school association and chairman of the ethnic group advisory board, Karl Hanzl, gives a project presentation on the topic “Continuous educational offers for all autochthonous ethnic group languages in Vienna, based on the example of the Komensky School”.
After a discussion and statements from the ethnic group advisory councils, the area spokespersons for ethnic groups in the parliamentary groups also have their say. The National Council members Nikolaus Berlakovich (ÖVP), Harald Troch (SPÖ), Olga Voglauer (Greens) and Michael Bernhard (NEOS) as well as Federal Councilor Isabella Theuermann (FPÖ) will speak.
