State parliament member KommR Kurt Wagner presented the award to the socially committed winner
Vienna (OTS) – Accidents change life suddenly. Like that of Christian Göhring, who suffered a serious accident at work in 1989. On the way to filming, the production manager was in a car accident that changed his life forever. For his social commitment and his exemplary rehabilitation, he was now honored with the AUVA “Back to Life” award at a ceremony in the Vienna City Hall.
“I am pleased to be able to honor Christian Göhring with the ‘Back to Life’ Award, a man who has found his way back to life in such an impressive way after his successful rehabilitation phase.”
says KommR Franz Nechansky, representing Peter Engelbrechtsmüller, chairman of the AUVA regional office for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. “As AUVA, we provide those affected with the best possible support to reintegrate into work and daily life. Because work is an important source of mental and social health.”
adds AUVA regional office director Reinhard Minixhofer.
On behalf of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Vice President Margarete Kriz-Zwittkovits presented a goods voucher worth EUR 2,000, and Dir. Minixhofer also presented a voucher for a holiday, provided by the Bau-Holz social welfare organization.
State parliament member KommR Kurt Wagner emphasized on the occasion of the award ceremony in the country house: “After a long and intensive rehabilitation phase, Mr. Göhring found his way back to life and never gave up, which earns me as much personal respect as his social commitment.”
An accident at work changed your life suddenly
On the way to a film set in the Wachau to prepare a motif for filming, there was a serious car accident due to aquaplaning. Due to a fracture of the cervical spine between C5 and C6, Mr. Göhring is now dependent on a wheelchair.
Employed and socially committed
After a serious accident, life is different. Nevertheless, Mr. Göhring always tried to look forward. After a long period of rehabilitation, including at the Weißer Hof rehabilitation center, Mr. Göhring began working at the Federal Ministry of Labor, where he is still employed full-time.
In addition, he has acquired a lot of extensive knowledge about support options for people with disabilities, which enables him to advise other affected people. In his private life everything revolves around his family, which gives him strength and support.
With the “Back to Life” Award, Mr. Göhring would also like to give motivation to those people who have a similar fate and pass on to them a piece of the courage and perseverance that enabled him to live out his wishes and dreams.
