With numerous events and unique events, Nuremberg invites you to visit the old town in autumn 2024. Whether it’s the traditional Trempelmarkt, the Old Town Festival or the Nuremberg Pop music festival – autumn offers plenty of opportunities to come to Nuremberg city center.

Visitors can expect the following events in Nuremberg city center in autumn:
Nuremberg Trempelmarkt – September 6th and 7th, 2024
On September 6th and 7th, 2024, Nuremberg city center will once again be transformed into a paradise for collectors. The Trempelmarkt invites you to browse and discover. With around 600 stalls running through the historic old town, the Trempelmarkt is one of the largest inner-city flea markets in Germany and an annual highlight for visitors from the region. In addition to professional antique shops, the offering is also enriched by numerous private junk dealers who present collected treasures and everyday objects with history. The market takes place on Friday from 4 p.m. to midnight and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Nuremberg Old Town Festival – September 11th to 23rd, 2024
In mid-September, when late summer arrives, the old town festival on the island of Schütt will be celebrated in Nuremberg for the 52nd time. The festival officially opens on September 11th and runs until September 23rd, 2024. Visitors can look forward to regional beers, Franconian cuisine and live music in the numerous huts. A special highlight is the traditional fishing jousting, which takes place on the Pegnitz during the old town festival. Those interested in culture should visit the Catherine ruins on the opposite side of the river, which offers a separate cultural program. On September 20, 2024, a concert with artists from the opera house is on the program under the motto “Opera House meets Old Town Festival”.
Autumn market – September 12th to 29th, 2024
At the same time as the Old Town Festival, the Nuremberg Autumn Market takes place on the main market. From September 12th to 29th, 2024, almost 90 dealers will offer a wide selection of arts and crafts items, tableware and pottery. In addition to the market stalls, Franconian innkeepers and brewers take care of your physical well-being. Visitors can look forward to Franconian onion cake, Federweißer, bratwurst and the typical city sausage with music.
City tours – September 20th to 22nd, 2024
Under this year’s motto “Treasures”, the city tours invite you to explore the cities of Nuremberg and Fürth from new and unknown perspectives. From September 20th to 22nd, 2024, well-known personalities, artists and renowned institutions will offer exclusive insights into places that normally remain hidden from the public. Participation in the city tours is possible for anyone interested, although some events require registration due to limited space.
Kick-off “Music of the Future” – September 21st and 22nd, 2024
The multidisciplinary project “Music of the Future” is dedicated to the transformation of the area around the former Kaufhof through art, culture and architecture. At the opening weekend on September 21st and 22nd, 2024, a “Förderturm” will be presented as a room-in-room installation by the architectural collective raumlaborberlin, accompanied by various artistic actions. Visitors can explore the background of the art project and share their visions for the future of Nuremberg’s city center. The event marks the start of a series of activities planned until May 2025.
Strolling Week – September 30th to October 5th, 2024
From September 30th to October 5th, 2024, the “Nuremberg Experience” association invites people from the entire Nuremberg metropolitan region to discover new and surprising offers in the city. Under the motto “Experience. Discover. Enjoy.” Participating retailers and restaurants roll out the red carpet and warmly welcome their customers. In addition to a special range of services, a diverse program of music, cuisine and culture creates a special atmosphere that invites you to stroll and shop.
Nuremberg Pop Festival – October 10th to 12th, 2024
The Nuremberg Pop Festival is the largest club and showcase festival in southern Germany and will also take place this year at various cultural locations in the city. From October 10th to 12th, 2024, concerts will be held in churches, museums, clothing stores, record stores, rooftops, public squares, as well as in clubs and cultural centers. The festival is complemented by the Pop Conference, which offers a variety of panel discussions, lectures and workshops on topics relating to the music industry and cultural aspects. Participation in the conference is free of charge after prior registration.
Open Day of the City of Nuremberg – October 11th to 13th, 2024
Every two years, the city of Nuremberg invites you to an open day, which this year will take place from October 11th to 13th, 2024. This weekend, over 120 city departments, authorities, institutions and associations will open their doors to provide insights into their work and the diversity of the city’s public and private institutions. A highlight of the program is the central event on the main market on Sunday, October 13, 2024. This will be accompanied by a shopping Sunday in the city center, where the shops will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and invite you to stroll and browse.
