The FSV traffic day 2025, the most important specialist meeting for traffic experts in Austria, took place in the Vienna Marriott Hotel. With over 250 participants and a new record of 30 exhibitors at the accompanying specialist exhibition, the event presented innovative developments in traffic planning and infrastructure.
Diversity of future topics in transport
From the new EU-air quality guideline to artificial intelligence in traffic control to rolling noise measurements of street areas-the broad spectrum of discussions showed the growing importance of technological and infrastructural innovations. The focus was also on side lanes, natural hazard protection and fall protection. “With 1,500 members, the Austrian Research Society Straße-Schiene-Traffic (FSV) sets standards for construction, maintaining and operating traffic infrastructures such as street, bridge, tunnels and rail,” emphasized Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Fellendorf, CEO of FSV.
Generation change at FSV
A special moment of this year’s traffic was the adoption of Dipl.-Ing. Martin Car, who has shaped the FSV as general secretary for over two decades. His merits for the organization were recognized by the participants. The management now takes over Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Tristan Tallafuss, who was desired for the coming time.
International perspectives & training
The FSV, among other things, is trying to spread Austrian know-how beyond national borders through the English translation of the guidelines (RVS). Dipl.-Ing. Vera Hofbauer, head of section in the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI), also emphasized the role of the FSV as a leading training platform: “For years, the FSV has been offering a wide range of one and multiple-day specialist seminars to keep the quality in the engineering and transport system at the highest level.”
