Austrian quota moved to Lebanon

Today, Friday, May 23, 2025, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner, Lieutenant General Martin Dorfer and numerous guests of honor and festival was adopted the Austrian quota in Lebanon. After a four -week preparation, the soldiers move to Lebanon – especially drivers, mechanics, paramedics, paramedics, logisticians and fire service staff.

“With their expertise, their operational and commitment, our soldiers make an indispensable contribution to peace and stability in Lebanon. Especially at a time of global uncertainty, their efforts are a strong sign of the responsibility that Austria takes on internationally.

The ceremony also applied annually on May 29th “International Day of Un Peapeapers” and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Association of Austrian Peapekeeper. It was founded on December 14, 1995 and is an association of Austrian soldiers who have served or have already served for Austria in various foreign missions. Your goal is, among other things, to promote measures to maintain peace and human rights.

Since November 2011, the Austrian Armed Forces have been participating in the Unifil Mission of the United Nations in Lebanon. Around 11,800 soldiers and 1,000 UN-ZIVILMENTE from 40 nations take part in this “United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon”. The peace troops in Camp Naqoura in the southwest of the country have their headquarters. After the rotation, 154 soldiers and eight soldiers of the Austrian Armed Forces will be in this commitment.
