That was the case with the Austrian lotteries in 2024: 494 top prizes, two sixes in the double-digit million range, 42 millionaires, three of eleven EuroDreams main prizes in Austria – and a “sixer like back then”
Every year at the Austrian Lotteries still had something special, something unique. This is also the case in 2024. But in the 38th year of the company’s existence, it was less a result of determining the winnings – of course, 494 big wins and two sixes beyond 10 million euros are not nothing – but rather comes from the phase before: the drawing of the winning numbers. Because the “six correct ones” from July 24th were “old acquaintances” at 12, 30, 32, 34, 37 and 43, who had already been drawn in exactly this constellation once, on January 22nd, 2014. This is astonishing in that there are a total of 8,145,060 different betting combinations, but there were just 1,134 draws between these two identical rounds. In any case, the two six-point winners from 2014 no longer played these numbers because the draw ends with a jackpot in July 2024.
As far as the number of high or million-dollar winnings is concerned, 2024 is slightly above the high level of the previous year. 494 times there was at least a six-figure amount (only once, in 2021 there were more) of which 42 were winnings in the millions. Broken down into the individual games, the following picture emerges:
- Lotto “6 out of 45”: 88 big prizes (36 in the millions)
- LottoPlus: 35 big wins
- EuroMillions (including AustriaBonus): 216 big wins
- Joker: 79 big wins (1 in millions)
- Class lottery: 27 big prizes
- Scratch card: 11 big wins
- Toto: 6 big wins
- Bingo: 5 big wins
- Top tip: 3 big wins
- Letterless: 2 big wins
- Special promotions: 13 big wins (5 in millions)
- Electronic lotteries (win2day): 9 big prizes
While in the history of the lottery at the beginning of the year (with the 14.9 million record six from 2018) there was only one win in the double-digit million range, over the course of the year there were two sixes that exceeded the 10 million euro mark. In addition: A Styrian won around 11.2 million euros in September, making it the highest Austrian gambling win of the year, and a Carinthian won around 10.9 million euros in October – Both managed to win a seven-fold jackpot single-handedly.
Internationally, Austria did extremely well in the most recent game, namely EuroDreams. The main prize was won a total of eleven times in the eight participating countries in 2024, three of which were in Austria: one player each from Tyrol, Styria and Carinthia has been able to win over 20,000 euros per month since April, July or December look forward to the duration of 30 years.
July, January and August as “lucky months”
If you subject the individual months to a luck analysis (ignoring the “Austria Super Bonus” rounds at EuroMillions, in which 50 prizes of 100,000 euros each were drawn in one fell swoop in April and August), then July turned out to be the same Lotto six-part ticket win as Fortuna’s favorite: There were 55 big wins, 25 of which were based on this same share ticket win after one There was no quadruple jackpot: They shared the 4.5 million euros and received between 108,000 and 540,000 euros, depending on the number of shares. Second place went to January and August, each with 37 high wins.
