Austrian Film Prize 2024: 49 nominations for 18 ORF co-financed films

Comprehensive program on ORF

Vienna (OTS) With 49 nominations for 18 films in 16 (of a total of 17) categories, the ORF is entering the race for this year’s Austro Oscars. At the top of the list of candidates for the Austrian Film Prize 2024 are the productions “Des Teufels Bad” (eleven nominations), “Rickerl – Music is at most a Hobby” (seven nominations) and “Ein Whole Life”, “Europe” and “Forest” (four nominations each). The award ceremony will take place on June 5th at a gala in Vienna City Hall.

With comprehensive reporting and films, ORF’s TV program surrounding the event is once again all about the coveted awards. The ORF radio stations and the ORF.at network are once again devoting themselves to the 14th Austrian Film Prize.

ORF television film director Katharina Schenk: “ORF as a partner of the Austrian film landscape”

“We are in the middle of another extraordinarily successful cinema year, successful with audiences, successful at festivals. And it makes us proud that the ORF can be part of this success story as a partner of the Austrian film landscape – and will continue to be so in the future. Thanks to an adjustment to the ORF law and good cooperation with this country’s filmmakers, we can make Austrian cinema films more visible, on our channels, but especially on our new platform ORF ON. Film is teamwork, and being part of this large Austrian film team is a privilege and a joy. I congratulate those team members who were nominated for their achievements this year and look forward to an exciting awards ceremony.”

ORF III program manager Peter Schöber: “covering the entire range of Austrian filmmaking”

“ORF III, as a long-standing media partner of the Academy of Austrian Film, will continue to focus its attention on the awarding of the Austrian Film Prize in 2024. The comprehensive representation of the diversity of local filmmaking in the program is our central concern. For this occasion, ORF III has not only launched the ‘Austrian Film’ channel to present film highlights to the audience at prime time, but has also designed a wide range of program focuses that cover the entire spectrum of Austrian filmmaking. In addition, ‘Kultur Today’, the most-watched weekday TV culture magazine, regularly provides information about the most interesting film releases and will once again accompany the Austrian Film Prize with comprehensive reporting this year. I wish all the nominees much success and look forward to the big gala in June in Vienna City Hall.”
