The knowledge platform oesterreich-isst-informiert.at shows career opportunities and brings successful women to the fore

Vienna (OTS) Whether dairy technologist, cellar master or managing director: The new newsletter from “Austria eats informs” presents the variety of opportunities and career paths using the example of successful women in the food industry. Top managers from Sebastian Stroh Austria and Brau Union Austria have their say, as do the first female cellar master at Schlumberger and a mineral water sommelier. The success example of a food technician at Vorarlberg Milch underlines the importance of apprenticeships as a springboard for specialist careers. And since the Christmas and New Year celebrations are not far away, the platform also provides insights into sparkling wine production.

“The food industry is there for everyone!”

From apprenticeships to specialist training to top management: the food industry is a diverse sector with exciting jobs and excellent career opportunities. “Our industry offers great careers for everyone. Because: “Hardly any other industry is as diverse as ours – from the areas of activity to the people who work in the food industry.”

Top managers provide insights

“Austria eats informed” presents two power women who enrich the domestic beverage world with their know-how and skills: Mag. Karin Trimmel is managing director of Austria’s oldest spirits manufacturer Sebastian Stroh Austria. dr. Gabriela Maria Straka As a member of the management board of Brau Union Austria, he holds a leading position at the country’s largest brewery company. Innovation also plays an important role for Trimmel in order to remain fit for the future.

Specialist expertise from sparkling wine production to mineral water

The world of beverages in particular offers a wide range of fields of activity. I know that too Aurore Jeudy, the first female cellar master in the 180-year history of the traditional Schlumberger sparkling wine cellar: “The process from the selection of the grapes to the finished sparkling wine is very extensive and requires a lot of responsibility. That’s what makes my job so exciting.” In keeping with this, another article on “Austria eats informs” shows how Austrian sparkling wine is produced and what processes are used. What is important when it comes to local mineral water is explained Mag. Tina Kodritsch from the Natural Mineral Water Forum. She is a mineral water sommelier herself and also provides insights into this training.

A teaching career offers excellent prospects

With apprenticeships in food technology and other apprenticeships – such as brewing and beverage technology or milk technology – the food and beverage industry offers the tools for exciting careers. How products such as butter or yoghurt are made from raw milk is explained Elisabeth Listmayer. She completed her apprenticeship as a food technician at the traditional dairy company Vorarlberg Milch and is now – over ten years later – an experienced specialist. “Around 100 young people are currently completing an apprenticeship in food technology. Four out of ten apprentices are female – I am particularly proud of that“, emphasizes Mag. Katharina Koßdorff from the trade association of the food industry.
