The “Mission Innovation Net-Zero Industries Award” distinguishes outstanding companies and people who are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in industry with pioneering approaches and draws attention to their innovations. The Austrian award winners: Interior was presented at the UN Climate Conference in Baku (COP 29) and awarded yesterday at the event “Climate Share Industry: Research and Development for the Industry of the Future” in Linz.
Change towards climate -neutral production in energy -intensive industry requires innovative solutions and the continuous commitment of specialists and experts: inside. As part of the national “Mission Innovation Net-Zero Industries Awards”, pioneering projects in the three categories “Outstanding Projects”, “Female Innovators” and “Young Talents” are awarded. The best submissions of the Mission Innovation Nim member countries (Australia, China, Germany, Finland, Canada, Austria, the Republic of Korea, the USA and the United Kingdom) are characterized by special innovative strength.

“Net -Zero Industries Award” – The best projects from Austria
In the “Outanding Projects” category, RHI Magnesita wins with the research project Ccupscale-CO2 to Value: The Ccupscale project is a cooperation with the Australian Cleanetech MCI Carbon and aims to use CO2 emissions through response with mineral starting materials in sales, alternative materials to convert for the construction and industrial sector. This achieves a net CO2 reduction of 85 to 95 percent. It is planned to build the world’s first CCU system for the fire festival industry in Hochfilzen, in Tyrol.
Tara Esterl was awarded in the “Female Innovator” category, which leads the Department of Integrated Energy Systems at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and the NEFI project Industry4redispatch. At the AIT, it is responsible for the strategic development of the research area integrated energy systems that play a crucial role in the energy transition by supporting the decentralization of energy generation and contributing to the achievement of climate goals.
In the “Young Talents” category, Sophie Knöttner of the AIT Austria Institute of Technology was convincing. Their research activities include industrial energy systems, development paths for digitization and decarbonization and challenges of energy system transformation.
