Bright sunshine, a perfectly groomed slope and around 13,000 spectators – the organizing team’s efforts were once again worth it. “Lower Austria has enchanted the entire winter sports world with this year’s World Cup races at Semmering. The state’s investments in the new race track on the Zauberberg have paid off. They are the basis for the World Cup to continue to be held here in Lower Austria in the coming years. The commitment of the many volunteers was also worth its weight in gold. Only with their help can Lower Austria present itself from its most beautiful side at Semmering. The experts confirm that the World Cup races at Semmering have an advertising value of two million euros. In reality, the beautiful images going around the world this weekend are priceless. We show our guests from the eastern region in particular that your winter sports happiness is so close! Even though we don’t have the highest mountains, we in Lower Austria offer a mountain experience that is at least as beautiful as the western federal states,” says state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, delighted with the successful race weekend.
“The Ski World Cup at Semmering is a great experience with unique emotional moments that get under your skin and it brings a significant economic stimulus for the entire region. With the pictures that we send to the world, we show that Lower Austria can host the Ski World Cup. Our investments in the new race track were worth it. A big thank you goes to all the volunteers and especially Franz Steiner and his team from WSV Semmering, who put together a top organization,” said State Sports Councilor and LH deputy Udo Landbauer.
“From the organizing committee’s point of view, we are more than satisfied – we had two dream days with thousands of enthusiastic ski fans. Our team and the Semmering Hirschenkogel Bergbahnen have ensured a perfect slope. “The emergency services and all the volunteers did a great job again – a thank you to everyone who supported this year’s races,” says OC boss Franz Steiner, giving a positive assessment.
