“At the scene”: A bargain by the lake

On July 11th at 9:05 p.m. on ORF 2 and on ORF ON

Vienna (OTS) Under the title “A bargain at the lake,” Nora Zoglauer will show an “Am Schauplatz” report on dubious real estate transactions on the Salzkammergut lakes on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 9:05 p.m. on ORF 2 and on ORF ON, which are now also in court be negotiated.

Properties on Lake Traunsee are rare and highly sought after. As a rule, several million euros are paid for this. Not so in the case of Gertrude Neuwirth. She ran her guesthouse in a top location, right on the lake, until she was old. At the age of 83, Ms. Neuwirth decided to sell her life’s work. The house bank established contact with a local real estate company. The large property including the boathouse and lake bed was valued at just 750,000 euros.

While her daughter was on vacation, the old lady signed all the sales contracts. Now the daughter has sued the real estate company. Martina Dimas alleges that her mother, who has since died, was severely demented at the time the contract was signed and was therefore no longer able to do business and sold the properties for far less than their value. There is now a verdict in this case. But this case also had criminal consequences: two lawyers, a notary, an appraiser and three people from the real estate industry have to answer in court for serious fraud.

And another case with the same protagonists has also emerged. It’s about many millions of euros. The economic and corruption public prosecutor’s office is now investigating this case. Insiders do not rule out the possibility of further cases emerging

“Am Schauplatz” reporter Nora Zoglauer has been documenting this real estate crime for two years. If a guilty verdict is found, the defendants face up to ten years in prison.
