The campaign “Lung“Put on simple means with great effect-including a handy card in a pickerl look

Analogous to the auto service, the lungs should also be checked regularly-for more quality of life and timely treatment.
Astrazeneca Austria starts the “Lung Pickerl” information campaign on the World-Lung Cancer Day on August 1st to draw attention to the importance of regular lung provision. Diseases of the respiratory organs such as COPD are the third most common cause of death in Austria. (1.2,3) cancer are the second most common cause of death – within this category, lung cancer ranks first: In 2025 alone, he demanded more than 4,200 fatalities. (1) These figures make it clear how essential to pay more attention. The campaign relies on realistic communication: as a matter of course as the Pickerl for the car, a regular “check” of the lungs should also be done. An online self-test, the handy “lung picker” in family practices, its own website and in the future also content in several languages should motivate broadly effectively for preventive care.
World-Lung Cancer Day: A call to active provision
Every year, thousands of people in Austria die from respiratory diseases such as COPD or lung cancer. (1) Often the diagnosis is only made in an advanced stage4-With serious effects on therapy and quality of life. (2.3) on the World-Lung Cancer Day on August 1, Astrazeneca therefore sets a clear sign for more provision. “We want to take lung checks as a matter of course as the Pickerl for the car. Because if you check regularly, you can react earlier if necessary and thus significantly improve the forecast and the success of the treatment”
explains Dr. Botond Ponner, Medical Director at Astrazeneca Austria.
Provision instead of waiting: low -threshold. Understandable. Effective.
Despite its vital function, the lungs are often only examined when symptoms already occur. The ‘Lung Pickerl’ initiative wants to change that – and focuses on those stresses that usually seem unnoticed but do great damage in the long term: smoking, environmental factors and an unhealthy lifestyle. On www.lungenpickerl.at Interested parties find a self -check, which in nine questions provides information about whether it is time for the next lung provision. A specialist can then quickly find a specialist near the doctor search. The initiative is flanked by a national social media campaign that strengthens the awareness of lung prevention via digital channels-target group-friendly, easily accessible and visually clear.
The handy “Lung“-Designed in the look of the Auto-Pickerl-will soon be located in family practices across Austria and invites patients to talk to her doctor about possible lung examinations. Compact, memorable and easy to take with you-in the wallet, in the calendar or on the fridge as a small memory of something great: your own lung health.
Multilingual. Multimedia. Medically well -founded.
The campaign will be expanded multilingual in the coming weeks: the website will soon also be available in English, Serbo -Croatian and Turkish. In this way, even more people are reached low -threshold and specifically motivated to prevent. In addition, video statements are currently being created with an expert: inside that convey central information on risk factors, symptoms and prevention compactly and understandably. “Serious lung diseases are among the greatest but often avoidable health risks of our time. The earlier we act, the better the chances of a healthier life”
according to Ponner.
