Yesterday’s storms in Tyrol and Vorarlberg also hit the Arlberg Pass road hard, which acts as a diversion route for the Arlberg Tunnel, which is closed until November. On the Vorarlberg side, an approximately 40 meter section of the road was torn away. ASFINAG has posted the appropriate traffic information on all access routes and in Bavaria in order to shift traffic to the remaining diversions in a timely manner. Heavy traffic has to go via Germany. For cars there is the possibility to get to Vorarlberg from Imst on the B 198 via the Lesachtal.
It is not yet possible to predict how long the Arlberg Pass Road will be closed.
ASFINAG employees help in St. Anton
In order to support the state and communities in repairing the storm damage, ASFINAG has parked employees and several vehicles from the St. Anton highway maintenance department (tunnel washing vehicles, wheel loaders, sweepers and trucks). Five ASFINAG employees are on duty and have been helping the emergency organizations since Saturday morning to clear the roads on the Tyrolean side that were affected by floods and mudslides.
