Artist Gerold Tagwerker presents mirror installation at ORF Vorarlberg

New exhibition “Art in the Funkhaus” was ceremoniously opened in the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn

Vienna (OTS) On the evening of January 30, 2024, numerous art enthusiasts accepted the invitation to the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn for the opening of the new show “mirror.disc_after(the party)” by the Vorarlberg artist Gerold Tagwerker.

The work reflects radio station architecture

For more than 20 years, Gerold Tagwerker has been using mirrors in his art, both as a material and as a metaphor. His current installation was created specifically for the “Kunsthalle FRO” in the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg. Anyone who looks at the work is not passive, but rather integrates into the work of art and continues it. A central theme of the work is the complex relationship between representation, depiction and reality.

ORF regional director Markus Klement and regional governor and cultural councilor Barbara Schöbi-Fink opened the exhibition curated by Marbod Fritsch. ORF cultural coordinator Jasmin Ölz discussed the creation of his work in conversation with artist Gerold Tagwerker.

Opening party with a casual sound

After the official opening, the installation was inspected by the many guests – accompanied by cool party sounds from cult DJ Gerry, Gerhard Sulzbacher.

Among those present were Angelika Simma-Wallinger (editor-in-chief of ORF Vorarlberg), Alfred Geismayr (ORF board of trustees), Christian Bernhard (former regional councilor for culture), Maria Simma (president of the Vorarlberg artists’ association and head of the Feldkirch cultural department), Thomas Häusle (director of the Dornbirn art space), a cultural journalist Thomas Schiretz, Elke and Herbert Alber (Galerie Arthouse Bregenz), Belinda and Johannes Boch (Galerie c.art), Margot Prax (Galerie.Z), Johannes Inama (Head of Küefer-Martis-Huus Ruggell in the Principality of Liechtenstein), Dieter Heidegger ( MShh – Marketing Support), artists such as Tone Fink, Roland Adlassnigg, Uta Belina Waeger, Gernot Riedmann, Peter Wehinger or Mathias Garnitschnig, Oswin Längle (Längle Glas), Markus Lutz (EHG Stahlzentrum) and many more.

Outlook “Art in the Funkhaus”

The current exhibition can be viewed daily until May 26, 2024 at the ORF-Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn. In June, the young artist Katharina Fitz will present the next show at the “Kunsthalle FRO”.
