Longing for summer and classical music? For all classical music fans, there are still two of the most renowned festivals to stream on ARTE Concert in August: The Lucerne Festival opens with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 with Riccardo Chailly at the conductor’s stand (online from August 19th). The Lucerne Festival Orchestra will then join in Riccardo Chailly & Alexander Malofeev continues his Rachmaninoff journey in the live stream on August 20th. Delighted at the Salzburg Festival Strauss with Asmik Grigorian and Gustavo Dudamel (live delayed on August 25th) and Mahler’s 6th Symphony conducted by Sir Simon Rattle in the live stream on August 31st.

Summer Breeze Open Air

The colorful ARTE bus traveled across Germany for three months as part of the ARTE Summer Tour and is now approaching its two final stops at the end of August: the Summer Breeze Open Air and the gamescom city festival. At the Summer Breeze Festival All metal fans can celebrate with national and international stars of the scene. ARTE Concert is there again and streams Lord Of The Lost, Enslaved, Jinjer, Architects, Delain and Lordi, among others!
At the gamescom cityfestival In Cologne, all visitors grab the microphone together: On August 24th, at ARTE Mitsing-Karaoke to international and German-speaking pop & rock and some icons of the 80s.

Louis Malle film series

The French film director Louis Malle was one of the most important representatives of the Nouvelle Vague and was considered the “maker” who always preferred cinematic practice to theory. ARTE presents the two web only highlights “Elevator to the Scaffold” and “The Thief of Paris” is now available and is showing the film today, August 12th at 8:15 p.m “Lacombe Lucien: The Spy” on TV. Many more of the director’s masterpieces will follow from September 16th, including “Goodbye, Children”, “Heart Flickering” and “The Lovers”.

A village in Japan – four little girls witness the murder of their friend and classmate Emili (Hazuki Kimura). Traumatized, none of the children are able to remember the murderer’s face. Emili’s mother (Kyoko Koizumi) cannot accept this uncertainty. 15 years later, the four witnesses are haunted by the unsolved murder… “Atonement” (original title: Shokuzai) is based on a novel by Kanae Minato. The film was directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa – one of the directors who have had a lasting impact on and renewed Japanese cinema.
