ARTE shows Grammy winner Laufeny in the new format “Sounds like Art” (PHOTO)

Strasbourg (ots) “Laufey – Sounds like Art” takes the newly crowned Grammy winner (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album) into impressionistic worlds in the Barberini Museum. Their sound of jazz, classical and pop meets Monet, Munch and Signac, among others. In the new format, ARTE accompanies world-renowned musicians on a journey through the most dazzling art exhibitions in Europe. Important works set the pace for a concert evening in the museum.

The stages in life of the 24-year-old Laufeny show the path from being an orchestra member in Reykjavík to the most successful debut album in the jazz segment. Classical music training, studying at Berklee College of Music, moving to Los Angeles, the multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, cello) fulfills every dream, no matter how ambitious. In times of sensory overload, she inspires millions of TikTok fans with jazz standards, presents her own songs on Jimmy Kimmel Live, plays sold-out concerts around the world and recently released music with her idol Norah Jones. In 2024 she will be awarded a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

As a self-confessed art lover and museum goer, she was happy to accept ARTE’s invitation and present songs from her two studio albums surrounded by works of art from the exhibitions “Impressionism – Hasso Plattner Collection” and “Edvard Munch – Landscapes of Life”. In doing so, she builds bridges between her compositions and the motifs of the iconic paintings. This unique dialogue between art and music has the feel of a dream world, colorful and intoxicating.
