Around 300,000 visitors on “Long Night of the Churches”
Vienna (OTS) –

According to the feedback from all federal states, around 300,000 visitors have once again used the offer of the “Long Night of the Churches”. The organizers announced on Friday night. A good 700 churches opened their doors to more than 2,000 program offers, from services to lectures, discussions to concerts and cultural and culinary offers. All Austrian dioceses were involved this year, and the “long night” took place at the same time in eleven cantons in Switzerland, South Tyrol and in the Czech Republic.

This year the program was under the topic “We can #Offen” – a ambiguous message that contains the opening of the churches, but also takes up the topic of “hope” through the hashtag – the central message of Christianity.

Many hopes of hope and hope have become visible, audible and noticeable in the “Long Night”, says Markus Pories, who, together with his team, was responsible for the overall coordination in Austria and in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The question of highlights is difficult to answer: “There are so many different things that you can hardly say is the most beautiful, best, most exciting – you must have experienced it,” said Pories.
