Tomorrow for around 210,000 pupils as well as 15,040 educators in Lower Austria middle schools, around 4,000 AHS – educators and around 3,600 educators who teach in a BMHS will begin the new school year. “I am pleased that we have been able to cover the hourly needs with teaching staff in Lower Austria this year and that we can keep all the hours that are necessary. Thanks to the educators throughout Lower Austria, who work with us on the best future for our children. The focus of the new school year is digitization, the competent use of smartphones and violence protection at schools. “Violence protection and security are a central topic at the Lower Austrian schools. Schools have to be continuously prepared and accompanied when it comes to creating a safe environment as possible,” says Bildungsrätin Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, who sees the basis for a good school climate in the mind and a respectful interaction. One topic that the schools are increasingly confronted with is the psychological stress of children and adolescents, also triggered by events such as in Graz. This can have different causes and also express itself in a wide variety of ways. All of these developments are common that they can also be noticeable in everyday school life, which causes the class climate and pose difficult challenges for the class climate. “We have made it our task in a cooperation with the Education Directorate Lower Austria and the Lower Austria Youth Red Cross under the motto of solving we solve this topic,” said Tesch-Hofmeister.

With folders, which are transmitted to the schools in sufficient numbers for all students, the state of Lower Austria also wants to give parents some tips on how to deal with such situations and draw attention to the most important offers of help in this area.
