We have to make this all the more conscious today, three years after the start of the war – because their steadfastness is also our security. ”

Brandstätter sharply criticizes the recent negotiations between the United States and Russia, in which the heads of Europe and Ukraine are trying to implement the announced “peace deal” and to fulfill Putin’s wish list point by point. “Such an approach – to make decisions about the fate of a country without being heard – is a geopolitical betrayal. If we allow this, it is not only decided on Ukraine, but also about our own future. Therefore: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, ”says Brandstätter.

Brandstätter continues: “The events of the past few years have shown that Europe must no longer passively leave its security passively to the interests of external powers. Europe also has to defend itself much more active against the Russian disinformation campaigns, which are unfortunately supported by some right -wing populist and right -wing extremists. Rather, Europe has to act as a closed unit and take steps for a common defense. The defense of Ukraine is also a defense of European values, peace and prosperity. Putin’s aggression war was a turnaround for Europe, now it must not be at a time end. ”

We are firmly behind Ukraine – because their freedom is the foundation of a free, stable Europe. Only if Ukraine itself is included in all decisions can a sustainable and sustainable peace arise.
