ARBÖ: Travel traffic and the Taylor Swift concert in the Ernst Happel Stadium bring a busy weekend
Vienna (OTS) –

Even if there are no traffic-intensive events this weekend – with the exception of the Taylor Swift concerts – Austria’s streets will still be crowded. As with every weekend during the holidays, the ARBÖ is expecting heavy travel traffic this time too. Traditionally, Saturday will again be the main travel day. The congestion points at a glance:

  • Westautobahn (A1) in the greater Salzburg area and in front of the Walserberg border crossing
  • Innkreis motorway (A8), in the construction site area between Ried and Ort
  • Pyhrnautobahn (A9), in front of the oncoming traffic areas between Klaus and Inzersdorf and between Treglwang and Trieben
  • Tauernautobahn (A10), between Werden and Flachau as well as in front of the Katschberg tunnel and the Villach junction
  • Karawanken motorway (A11) or in Slovenia on the A2, in front of the Karawanken tunnel both on arrival and departure
  • Inntalautobahn (A12), before the Kufstein/Kiefersfelden border crossing
  • Brenner motorway (A13), between Innsbruck and the Schönberg toll booth
  • Seefelder Straße (B177), in front of the construction site over the Zirler Berg
  • Fernpass route (B179), in sections along the entire route with block clearance in front of the Lermoosertunnel and the Vils/Füssen border tunnel

“Travelers must also expect traffic jams and delays in front of the Fügen border crossing (A9 or the Slovenian A1) and the Suben/Passau border (A8 or the German A3),” says the ARBÖ information service.

Zwtl: Taylor Swift ensures the Ernst Happel Stadium is full for three days

Taylor Swift fans will get their money’s worth from August 8th to 10th. On these 3 days, the exceptional American artist will perform hits such as “Cruel Summer”, “Lover” and “Fortnight” as part of her “The Eras Tour”, sending her fans into “ecstasy”. Admission to the three concerts in Vienna’s Praterstadion begins at 4:00 p.m., the concert by the supporting band Paramore is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Since the concerts are completely sold out, the ARBÖ expects the arrival period, i.e. from around 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on the Südosttangente (A23), between Hanssonkurve and Handelskai in the direction of Hirschstetten and between Hirschstetten and St. Marx in the direction South with increased traffic volume. Drivers also have to expect long delays in front of the Prater junction on the Ostautobahn (A4) and the Kaisermühlen junction. It could also take longer at Handelskai, Exhibition Street, Engerth Street and Trabrenn Street. Depending on the traffic situation, Meiereistrasse between Vorgartenstrasse and Hauptallee as well as Stadionallee in its entirety and Trabrennstrasse between Vorgartenstrasse Parking Garage D at the exhibition center will also be closed. After the end of the concert, heavy delays are to be expected in the opposite directions of the mentioned sections of the route.

In addition to the traffic jams on the route, finding a parking space could also be a test of nerves. As an alternative to the parking spaces at the stadium, there are the parking garages at the exhibition center and the Park+Ride facilities on the subway lines U1, U2, U3, U4 and U6. The ARBÖ traffic experts recommend a relaxed journey with the Vienna public transport lines, especially the U2 and the bus line 77A.
