ARBÖ: The start of the holidays in parts of Germany and the Netherlands again brings long delays in Austria

Vienna (OTS) Next weekend, students in the German states of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland as well as parts of the Netherlands can look forward to the start of the summer holidays. This time too, the start of the holidays will not be without consequences for the transit routes in Austria.

The main travel day and therefore traffic jams will once again be Saturday, which is why the ARBÖ is most likely expecting congestion on the following sections:

  • Pyhrnautobahn (A9), in front of the construction site areas between Inzersdorf and Klaus as well as Treglwang and Trieben as well as in front of the Gleinal and Bosruck tunnels

  • Tauernautobahn (A10), in front of the St. Michael toll booth and in front of the Tauerntunnel

  • Karawanken motorway (A11), in front of the Karawanken tunnel, towards Slovenia
  • Inntalautobahn (A12) in the greater Innsbruck area and in front of the Kufstein/Kiefersfelden border crossing
  • Brenner motorway (A13), between Innsbruck and the Schönberg toll booth
  • Fernpassstraße (B179) in front of the Vils/Füssen border tunnel and the Lermooser tunnel

This summer, 14 exits along the A10 will again be closed to travelers on weekends. These traffic measures have been in effect since July 5th (until September 8th) and are also being monitored.

Zwtl.: The Wachau is becoming a mecca for cycling enthusiasts

The Wachau cycling marathon starts on July 14, 2024 in Mautern on the Danube. Three challenging routes through the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wachau and the Waldviertel await all cycling enthusiasts. The local executive will begin short-term closures of Donaustraße (B3) and Aggsteiner Straße (B33) in the Mautern area from five in the morning. Wiener Straße (B1) and Weitental Straße (B216) will also be affected. The barriers in the finish area will be reopened from 5 p.m.

Zwtl.: The European Championship final is calling

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, the men’s European Cup final will take place in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. If the ticket prices of up to 1,000 euros are too expensive for you, you can also enjoy the match for free in a public viewing.

The ARBÖ generally expects an increased number of spectators around the open-air football cinemas throughout Austria. The ARBÖ tip: It is recommended to arrive earlier using public transport and, in addition to one or two final beers, drink enough water due to the hot weather forecast.

Zwtl.: The Weiz Rally turns Styria on its head

The next round of the Austrian Rally Challenge will take place in Eastern Styria from July 11th to 13th. According to the organizers, there will be a large international summer rally sport festival with 80 teams from 18 nations. Thirteen special stages over 152 km are on the program for the teams and their fans. The special tests take place in the area around Weiz, Strallegg and Miesenbach and are accompanied by short-term, local closures.
