The science spokesman of the People’s Party, Abg. Rudolf Taschner, on anti -Semitic smearings at the Technical University of Vienna. On the walls of the university, slogans such as “Intifada in Tu” and “Tu Loves War crimes” have been found in a threatening and anti -Semitic context against the state of Israel and Jewish fellow human beings.
“It is unacceptable that such rush slogans are spread at an Austrian university. Anti -Semitism has no place in our society – and certainly not at an institution that stands for education, science and critical thinking,” says Taschner.
Taschner therefore not only calls for a rapid clarification of the incident, but also a clear positioning on the part of the university management: “It is important that the Vienna University of Vienna is unmistakable and perceives its responsibility as an educational institution. Anyone who tolerates anti -Semitic slogans leaves the soil of a free and democratic society.”
Finally, Taschner underlines: “Especially in challenging times, the university has to prove itself as a place of education and coexistence. We all – teachers, students and politically responsible – are required to defend it.” (Ending)
