The Floridsdorf prayer garden is regularly used by people from all over Floridsdorf and is a place of prayer and celebrating religious festivals. Yesterday night there has been vandalism and destruction at the prayer garden on the Marchfeld Canal for the second time in recent years. The ÖVP Floridsdorf condemns this to the sharpest and clearly speaks against any form of violent and hate crimes – as in this case.
“The new acts of violence against prayer figures and crucifixes show how deeply the hatred of peaceful places of faith sits in some people in Floridsdorf. Such acts must not be tolerated in our district,” says ÖVP district council Alexander Jansa. “As an ÖVP Floridsdorf, we will address this incident. We will not ignore such hate crimes. We also have to deal with it clearly as a district,” concludes ÖVP-Floridsdorf club chairwoman Victoria Mayer.
