Manaus, Brasilien (ots/PRNewswire) – For the first time, the members of the Amazonia Finance Network (AFN) met in Manaus during the Sustainability Week von IDB Invest, which brought together global leaders from business, government and civil society to share best practices in the sustainable economy. AFN will welcome 22 new members, bringing the total to 46 financial institutions. It will also finance pilot projects to promote sustainable investments in the Amazon region.
IDB Invest and IFC called the Amazonia Finance Network during the COP28 to increase investment flows, mobilize capital and promote financial inclusion in the Amazon region.
AFN members took part in a “Tambaqui Tanque” to select innovative pilot projects. Thirty proposals covered solutions in the areas of financial inclusion, SMEs, agribusiness and forestry, with a potential impact of 2.1 million beneficiaries, 1.2 million hectares reforested Area and 6 million tons of CO2 sequestration by 2030.
Selected projects will receive access to expertise, resources and funding to help them achieve their impact across the Amazon.
