Amadeus Austrian Music Awards 2024: the FM4 award goes to Bipolar Feminin

Amadeus Austrian Music Awards 2024: the FM4 award goes to Bipolar Feminin

Vienna (OTS) With their debut album “A Fragile System” and their rousing live shows, Bipolar Feminin were one of THE indie bands of last year. Now they have won the FM4 Award at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards with the votes of FM4 listeners. These most important Austrian music prizes will be awarded on April 26th in the Vienna Volkstheater.

Bipolar Feminine are the siblings Leni (singer, guitar) and Max Ulrich (bass) as well as Jakob Brejcha (guitar) and Samuel Reisenbichler (drums), all from Ebensee (Upper Austria) – they received the FM4 Award from FM4 listeners awarded by Amadeus. They follow last year’s winner Oskar Haag.

Razor-sharp words and a musical cosmos that always has something to do with guitars and usually a little bit with punk: that’s Bipolar Feminin. Restless and angry and now and then – they try – there’s also a bit of gentleness and insults. Without the latter, you won’t get far in Austria, especially if you text in German. And people who juggle words in this country know this – one of them is Leni Ulrich from Bipolar Feminin. What is the common thread that binds fans of Bipolar Feminine together? “A certain tendency to express one’s emotions,” Leni says with a laugh when asked this question and adds that it is also “definitely a question of attitude.” In this case, attitude means: fighting against pressure to perform and other capitalist promises, standing up for the unconditional search for togetherness. Enduring ambiguity beyond two-dimensional constructs such as feminine and masculine. Courage to be small occasionally, but never allow yourself to be made small. Reach out to each other, work on friendships, take space for each other, work for good, in your immediate environment as well as in larger social contexts. The FM4 Award for Bipolar Feminine is also an award for this attitude.

FM4-Award beim Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2024

The FM4 Award is one of 14 prizes presented annually as part of the Austrian Amadeus Music Awards. The special thing about it: The winners are chosen by the FM4 listeners, by the fans. Every year the FM4 music editorial team sends 20 great Austrian artists who have released new music in the past year into the race for the FM4 Award. In the first voting phase, the top 5 and then the winning act will be chosen from this longlist. In addition to Bipolar Feminin, Anda Morts, Bibiza, Eli Preiss and Leftovers were represented in the top 5 this year.

The award ceremony will take place at the Amadeus Gala on April 26, 2024 in the Vienna Volkstheater and will be broadcast on ORF 1 with a time delay. A photo of the FM4 Award winners Bipolar Feminine for download (© FM4): https://cloud.orf.at/s/fGQe88kefGCMnTF.
