The Museumsquartier Vienna presents the exhibitions “All This – Herman de Vries” and “Anatomy of an Endless Scene – Huda Takriti” in the MQ freedom.
„The art of Herman de Vries is a meditation about being and the inseparable connection between man and nature – an art of immediacy that calls us to recognize the hidden and to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary“, Said MQ director Bettina Leidl.
all this
With the exhibition of the Dutch artist Herman de Vries (*1931, Alkmaar) a work is presented that makes nature itself a work of art. De Vries’ artistic examination of nature lives from immediacy and presence – nature can speak for itself. In a world that is increasingly alienating from natural processes, he asks us to sharpen our eyes to make the hidden visible and to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary. “All this” is the first institutional solo exhibition of the artist in Austria. His work can be seen in numerous international art institutions. In 2015 Herman de Vries represented the Netherlands at the Biennale in Venice.
Anatomy of an Endless Scene
The Syrian artist Huda Takriti (*1990, Damascus) in her interdisciplinary practice deals with questions of memory, identity, migration and the interdependencies of personal and collective history. In her exhibition in the Museumsquartier Vienna, she shows two video work in which she examines the dynamics of power, time and historiography – including the example of the Algerian Revolution.
