Alf Poier reflects the far -reaching changes since the publication of his first art book “123 masterpieces“(Seifert Verlag) in 2015.Colorful blackened picture book“(Seifert Verlag) is devoted to these zeitgeheme in an unconventional way, for which he the term”Ungrateful art“characterizes that describes an art that does not correspond to the usual expectations.
In the Kaiblinger gallery, he exhibits works from the new book.
The artistic career Alf Poiers went through a remarkable transformation. After a twenty-year successful career as a cabaret artist with appearances in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators and presence in well-known TV shows, such as the “Harald Schmidt Show” and the “Quatsch Comedy Club”, including a sixth place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, he had to get out of health in 2014 Reasons take a break. This turning point marked its change into the visual artist. His works, which originally served as stage props, were increasingly recognized in the art world. The change to the renowned Galerie Kaiblinger in 2020, where his works are exhibited alongside works by artists such as Gottfried Helnwein, Hermann Nitsch and Arnulf Rainer and his decision to devote himself entirely to Dadasophical art in 2021 were other important milestones.
Poier’s artistic philosophy is characterized by conscious waiver of art -theoretical complexity. He emphasizes the meaning of the idea about aesthetic perfection and cultivates a deliberately naive, direct expression. In his works, word and image combine to form an equal unit. He raised his technical untouchedness to the style feature. Poier describes himself as “Dadasophic total artisan” and “opposite artist”.
In particular, the author justifies his absurd works with radical skepticism. Since, apart from the existence of consciousness, nothing can be claimed with absolute certainty, in the deliberately absurd, he sees the most adequate form of expression. This attitude is reflected in many of his works.
