Albus Salzburg celebrates the commissioning of the lighthouse project of his strategy on the way to emission -free mobility. A flight roof, which comprises more than 4,200 m2 and over 1,700 photovoltaic modules, generates the green current for the e-fleet directly at the depot. Albus Salzburg is currently operating 15 e-buses in scheduled operations, and around 80 are said to be around 80 by the end of 2028. With a length of 81 meters and a width of 55 meters, the flight roof extends over more than 4,200 m2 and offers space for over 1,700 photovoltaic modules. Not only the size, but also the construction stands out: there are no columns in the hall so that the maneuvering of the buses can be handled without any problems. In total, more than 3.5 million euros were invested. Since already sealed areas was built over and a PV system was built on it, the state of Salzburg has funded the project with around 1.2 million euros. During the construction work that started in October 2024, bus operations were kept 100 %, which was logistically a special challenge. “It was only on September 9th that our flight roof was awarded the VCÖ Mobility Prize Salzburg 2025 under the motto ‘Future Fit for City and Country’. We are very pleased that the specialist jury has chosen our project ‘Sonenda for tomorrow-photovoltaic for an emission-free public transport in Salzburg’, so we have chosen the winning project” Häckl.

Salzburg’s most modern stop is on Siezenheimer Strasse
As part of the construction work, the stop on Sienheimer Straße was completely redesigned and now has modern seating, real -time information, an acoustic departure time statement, a blind control system, a defibrillator and a green roof. The facade of the depot from Albus Salzburg was also greened to the cemetery. This is an area of around 705 m² that corresponds to the green area of the new planting of 17 trees together with the green roof.

On the occasion of the opening, Albus Salzburg organized an “e-mobility church day” on the company premises with numerous guests of honor, in which a comprehensive daily program was offered. Also regional crafting representative Stefan Schnöll, Mayor Bernhard Auinger, city councilor Anna Schiester, co -owner of Albus Salzburg and CEO of Salzburg AG MMAG. Michael Baminger and Dr. Ludwig Richard, owner of Dr. Richard Group, were there and gave insights into the project as part of e-mobility talks.

City councilor Anna Schiester: “Albus Salzburg provides a real added value for public transport in Salzburg due to the extensive renovation of its depot. In close cooperation between the city, state and the bus company, we were able to quickly realize the project and herald a new era of environmentally friendly traffic. We can offer the Salzburgers a clean environmentally friendly mobility. I am particularly proud of the new stop.
