Social Democratic trade unionists win in the Carinthian AK election: top candidate Goach received 69.3 percent of the vote. The final election results will be available on March 18th.
Klagenfurt (OTS) – The Freedom Workers – FPÖ (FA-FPÖ), with the top candidate Manfred Mischelin, achieved 18.6 percent, the FCG-ÖAAB – Carinthian Workers (FCG – ÖAAB) – with Christian Struger as the top candidate, got 5.2 percent , the alternative, Independent Trade Unionists Carinthia (AUGE/UG), with Roland Ressmann as the top candidate, received 3.1 percent of the votes (first time running), the GLB Trade Union Left Block (GLB) with Cristina Tamas as the top candidate received 0.9 percent of votes and the General List of Health Workers (ALG) with the top candidate Roswitha Tomic came to 2.9 percent (first time appearance).
In terms of mandates, this provisionally means: 50 mandates for the Goach list, 13 mandates for the Freedom Party, 3 mandates for the ÖAAB, 2 mandates for the AUGE/UG, 2 mandates for the ALG. The GLB did not achieve a mandate.
“57,178 valid votes”
Returning officer Maximilian Turrini: “Around 32.5 percent of those eligible to vote exercised their right to vote. 179,197 employees were called to the polls, of which 13,960 people voted by postal vote and 43,513 people voted in the company districts. A total of 58,200 votes were cast, of which 57,178 were valid.”
In his statement, election winner Günther Goach thanked all employees who exercised their right to vote and was pleased with the clear election victory of the Social Democratic trade unionists in the AK: “The voters trusted us to a great extent . This is the clear mandate to continue to fight with full force for workers’ rights and, above all, for relief. The AK is the voice for Carinthian employees. I feel committed to your interests.”
The final result of the AK election in Carinthia will be known after all voting cards have been counted on Monday, March 18th.
