The skiing world championship in Saalbach-Hinterglemm starts on Tuesday. All competitions take place around lunchtime. Despite all the enthusiasm and all the thumbs for domestic skiing, employees should always remember that they risk their jobs if they television or consume alcohol in working hours without the employer’s permission. “”It is best to clarify with the employer what works and what is not
“, AK President Andreas Stangl recommends.
If you want to watch a ski race inside during working hours, you should clarify with the employer beforehand what is allowed and what is not. “”In this way, conflicts or even labor law consequences can be avoided
“, Says AK President Andreas Stangl. The AK advises:
- If you want to follow the races during working hours, you should clarify the procedure in the company in advance in order to find a solution that is okay for everyone and that neither affects the working atmosphere nor the work.
- In most jobs, television is not allowed at work. If you want to see ski races in the company, you must clarify this beforehand with the supervisor. “”
So don’t look secretly and behind the boss’s back in the office, especially not if the work is suffering from it
“, Says the AK President. - If the television runs generally during working hours, such as in local or betting shops, no additional approval needs to be obtained. Problems only arise here if the required work is not provided or only provided to a limited extent due to the distraction by ski race.
- If the private use of the Internet is allowed during working hours, workers can: access the results inside. The pursuit of an entire race in the live stream is problematic, however, since the work performance can hardly be performed in full. In addition, the server performance could reach its load limits.
- If you want to take a vacation to go to Saalbach or to follow the World Cup in front of the television at home, you have to agree with the employer. A one -sided vacation is not permitted.
- There are no exceptions to generally applicable agreements regarding alcohol consumption: if there is a ban on alcohol during work, this ban also applies to the time of sporting events.
„Even if there is great interest in skiing in Austria, certain rules of the game apply to which the employees must adhere to
“, Says Andreas Stangl.
