EQS-Media / November 24th, 2023 / 11:00 CET/CEST AGRANA with new food trends at “Food Ingredients Europe” The Austrian food group AGRANA is presenting itself in Frankfurt at Food Ingredients Europe (FiE), one of the most important trade fairs for food and beverages (November 28th – 30th, 2023), with its wide product range in the areas of fruit preparations, fruit juice concentrates, starch and sugar. At the FiE in Frankfurt, AGRANA, together with AUSTRIA Juice, a joint venture between AGRANA and Raiffeisen Ware Austria, is taking up current nutrition and beverage trends, with plant-based concepts such as yoghurt alternatives and meat substitutes becoming increasingly important. Various concepts for manufacturers of yoghurt products and plant-based yoghurt alternatives as well as solutions for home cooking on a purely plant-based basis will be shown. The trade fair highlights also include vegan product variants as all-in solutions, in which the fruit components are already mixed with the plant-based yogurt alternative and the food manufacturer only has to bottle the finished product. Visitors can taste, among other things, an energizing coffee drink with coconut-based guarana, a creamy, spoonable oat-based dessert with mandarin orange cake pieces, vegan foam kisses in a chocolate coating with a particularly high fruit content, and vegan tuna and curry chicken spreads. AGRANA also uses AUSTRIA Juice’s flavor expertise in product development and is presenting a new fruit preparation with plant extracts for yoghurts at FiE: blueberry with lavender. This novelty joins other aromatic combinations, for example ginger-lemon-hemp or mate-lemon. AGRANA also offers new flavor combinations for the ice cream industry, a growing market in Europe, for example Parmesan ice cream with coffee swirls or a mango-passionfruit sorbet with baobab and chili inclusions. Live Cooking at the Chef’s Table – Plant-Based Home Cooking The AGRANA starch segment, widely known for its GMO-free and diverse starch products based on the raw materials corn, potatoes and wheat, is showing surprising things for the dining table at the FiE trade fair. At the Chef’s Table, where live cooking takes place, currywurst and meatballs with mashed potatoes are on the menu, albeit in a purely plant-based interpretation. Because the recipes only contain natural ingredients and are free of methylcellose. Textured wheat protein as well as cold-swelling corn starch and potato fibers ensure the right “bite”. Corn starch, rice flour and potato fiber are the main ingredients in two other newly developed recipes that address consumers’ desire for gluten-free products: toast and waffles. From the sugar segment, AGRANA’s broad product range with specialties such as powdered sugar, granulated sugar and yellow sugar rounds off the trade fair appearance. Betaine drinks for more endurance and strength In the sugar segment, AGRANA produces another valuable product, betaine. It is obtained from sugar beet molasses and is characterized by a wide variety of possible uses. Betaine in the diet has a positive effect on water balance and metabolism and thereby promotes physical performance and endurance. In order to demonstrate the positive properties of this natural ingredient, two beverage concepts developed by AGRANA together with AUSTRIA Juice can be tasted at the FiE trade fair stand: on the one hand, an isotonic sports drink with red berry juice and corn starch, and on the other hand, an energy drink with vitamins, caffeine and Betaine, which replaces taurine. Sports drinks, such as: B. isotonic drinks, one of the trend topics at FiE. These are not only thirst quenchers to counteract fluid loss, but are specifically designed to effectively replenish fluids and nutrients lost during physical activity. The focus of the AUSTRIA Juice recipes is sugar reduction, natural ingredients and nutrient enrichment with electrolytes and carbohydrates.
